Howling Bells Return For ‘Heartstrings Homecoming’ Tour

Sydney’s own dream pop stars Howling Bells will return to Australian shores this September. Supporting their recently released fourth album, Heartstrings, the band will play their first string of headline dates since 2011 in Perth, Sydney, and Melbourne.

Forming in Sydney in 2005, Howling Bells — Juanita Stein, Joel Stein, Glenn Moule, and Gary Daines — relocated to bustling London where they immersed themselves in the influence of Americana and ambient electronica as they developed their unique style of delicious gothic guitar pop.

Following a two-year hiatus after the release of 2011’s The Loudest Engine, the band’s latest offering was written during a “creative spell” in the basement of frontwoman Juanita’s north London home last October. The album finds a reinvigorated Howling Bells, ready to flex their live chops.

“I’m desperate to tour and connect with an audience again – there’s no way for an artist to gauge people’s reactions to a song unless you’re playing them live,” explained Juanita. “Twitter’s not gonna do it, Facebook’s not gonna do it, online comments aren’t gonna do it. I need to feel them.”
