James Blake, Chance The Rapper Moving In Together

After teaming up on a remix of his song Life Round Here, Chance The Rapper has decided to move in with his musical BFF, British downtempo/post-dubstep idol James Blake.

Speaking with NME, Chance (real name Chancelor Bennett) discussed making the move from his home-city of Chicago to the west-coast mecca of Los Angeles, admitting that leaving his childhood home will be a unique experience.

“I’ve never lived anywhere other than this house, the one I grew up in in Chicago,” he said. “It will probably be like being on vacation for the first couple of months. Then I’ll start figuring out what kind of music I’ll be making.”

Chance is clearly excited about the venture, as well as the idea of both working and living with Blake. “We’re probably going to make a bunch of shit every day,” he proclaims. “I don’t know what we’re going to do with it. We might give some shit to other artists.”

Chance has discussed the new living arrangement as a sort of “compound” where him and Blake will maintain a steady flow of contributing artists. “We’re getting a compound so we figure we might invite people round to the crib and make some music in the house, then kick them out and bring in some new people.”

One musician who could hopefully swing by the compound is Theresa Wayman, guitarist and vocalist of LA-based art-rock group Warpaint, who Blake is currently dating.

Chance The Rapper has been named on the lineup for the already sold-out 2014 iteration of Coachella Festival. 25-year-old Blake was recently nominated for a 2014 Brit Award in the category of Best British Male Solo Artist.
