Kanye West Confirmed As Glastonbury 2015 Headliner

Continuing his current trend of total saturation at various live venues, Kanye West has just been confirmed as the second headliner for Glastonbury 2015.

“We’re very excited to reveal that Kanye West will headline the Saturday night of this year’s Glastonbury Festival. This will be the rapper’s first appearance at the Festival,” reads a statement on the Glastonbury website.

The rapper will top the bill on the festival’s Saturday night, following a headline set the night before by rock ‘n’ roll avengers Foo Fighters. The Glastonbury Sunday headline act is still yet to be announced. Lionel Richie is also set to perform at the festival on Sunday, but is not a headliner.

Kanye West has spent much of 2015 slowly revealing his forthcoming new album, So Help Me God, at various live venues. He’s played at The Grammys, The Brit Awards, Saturday Night Live, debuted music at his own fashion show, and threw a surprise gig at a London club.

While So Help Me God does not yet have a release date, it is likely to drop any minute now, seeing as Kanye believes release dates are “100% played out”.

Noel Gallagher is yet to comment on the announcement, after he made headlines back in 2008 when he criticised Glastonbury’s decision to name Jay Z as the festival’s first ever hip-hop headliner. Jay Z responded to that in style, by covering Wonderwall during his Glasto set.

Glastonbury 2015 will take pace from June 24th – 28th at Worthy Farm. Tickets for the event have been sold out for months now, but there will be a resale of any cancelled and returned tickets this April.

The full 2015 Glastonbury Festival line-up is yet to be announced.
