Kasabian Say New Album Influenced By Nirvana And Kanye West

Kasabian have revealed details of their upcoming follow-up to 2011’s Velociraptor!, saying that the band sourced influence from Nirvana, Kanye West, Death Grips, and Rage Against The Machine. Speaking to Q Magazine, the band said the album was likely to be out by June of this year.

“I don’t want to give it any adjectives. You have to be careful because they stick,” said guitarist Serge Pizzorno, instead recounting some of the bands who influenced the album and listing such song titles as Bumblebee, Ezz-Eh, Explodes, Glass, and Scissor Paper Stone.

“It’s Beastie Boys dub with a sort of Zeppelin, [RATM] chorus. It’s got the flavour of a bank robbery getaway car. Everything drops to barely nothing and then the fucking hand of God slams the floor,” Pizzorno said of Bumblebee. “You’ll be able to see the mosh pit from space.”

Frontman Tom Meighan spoke enthusiastically about the band’s fifth studio album, saying, “This record is as good as it gets for us. If we were on a mountain, we’re at the top of Mount Everest now. We’ve stuck the flag in and we’re saluting it. Top of the world, mate – that’s where we are.”
