Lana Del Rey’s ‘West Coast’ Video Is A Bit Like A Bad Dream

Lana Del Rey has out Lana-Del-Reyed herself with her latest visual offering, the video for current single West Coast. The new clip has been delivered in the lead up to the jilted songstress’s wildly anticipated sophomore effort Ultraviolence.

We’re first shown the moist eyed crooner as she swans along the presumably West Coast shoreline in casual clothes with a sort of brooding, generally good looking, denim-clad, long-haired younger fellow. Soon, though, we dissolve to a far more refined Del Rey, riding alongside an intriguing older gentleman in the back of a convertible.

L.A. dreamscapes, impenetrable montages of identical beauties – it’s all a little Mulholland Drive, frankly. It’s also undoubtedly Lana Del Rey. West Coast‘s video maybe be slavishly on message with the singer’s slightly damaged depressive haze persona, but like you could do better.

The song itself was road tested at Coachella earlier this year and officially unleashed not long after. No word yet on when its brothers and sisters from Ultraviolence will hit our ear holes as a release date is still TBC. Top scientists predict it will be worth the wait.
