Listen To Sticky Fingers’ Stomping New Tune ‘Outcast At Last’

Sticky Fingers have dropped a new ditty into our laps with the gangsta-Dr. Seuss name of Outcast At Last.

The song, which premiered on triple j this arvo, represents our first lick of the fellas’ third studio record, which they’ve promised is going to be “dope”.

The brand spanker is due out later this year, and if Outcast At Last is anything to go by, then it’s set to be a little bit Arctic Monkeys-ish.

“We recorded this album in Thailand,” bassist Paddy Cornwall told the j’s, explaining that the lads went on a bit of a four-week working holiday with regular producer Dann Hume to unwind after a hectic year of touring.

“We were all just pretty wrecked by the end of December and hanging there going ‘is everybody ok?’,” he continued. “So we found this amazing studio in Thailand as an excuse to have a holiday while keeping [things] going, staying at this amazing studio called Karma Studios.”

And the first product to be unveiled from their recording vacay is Outcast At Last, which is packing a stomping groove riff with the group’s trademark blend of Aussie-infused reggae & roots.

“We’re mixing [the album] as we speak, down in Melbourne, with our man Dann Hume and it’s sounding great,” Cornwall continued. “We’re very excited. It’s actually much more of a live sounding album.

“On [last album] Land of Pleasure, that was the first time we had our own studio and our relationship with Dann was growing and so we were getting mega-experimental; getting deep into the production elements.

“This album’s going to be slightly an antidote to that where it’s a lot more back-to-basics: the band, in a room, playing together. And I reckon this single is a pretty good representation of that.”

Meanwhile, StiFi’s national headlining tour this April is pretty much SOLD the fuck OUT, which should come as no surprise since the band are renowned for selling out shows before they’re even announced.
