Brian Warner, better known to fans and detractors as controversial industrial singer and cultural lightning rod Marilyn Manson, has penned a heartbreaking tribute to his mother, Barbara J Warner, who passed away at the age of 68 this past Tuesday, 13th May following a long battle with dementia.

An obituary posted by local Ohio outlet The CantonRep described the late Barbara J Warner as “a wife, lover, mother and friend who will be missed forever.” She is survived by her son, and husband Hugh A Warner. “In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.”

Manson took to his social media channels to eulogise his late mother, whom he described as having a considerable impact on his creative life. During a 2000 interview with Bill O’Reilly, Manson stated that his mother’s desire for her son to be a journalist influenced his highly topical songwriting style.

“Mother, to the first and greatest believer in me… I hope I see you again someday. But not now, because I have more things I promised I would do,” begins the singer in his heartfelt tribute. “I’ll make you proud and satisfied that you know that you made the son you wanted. I love you.”
