New ‘GTA V’ Soundtrack Details: WAVVES, Flying Lotus, Keith Morris To Host Radio Stations

Written by Mike Hohnen on August 29, 2013

After details leaked online earlier this week, the official soundtrack for Grand Theft Auto V has been a hot topic of discussion. Now, the man behind the soundtrack, Ivan Pavlovich, has shed even more light on what we can expect from the sonic delights within the upcoming edition of the franchise, and it appears to be even more relevant than we first expected.

It’s not just the map that will be the biggest in GTA history but also the soundtrack and score. Speaking to Rolling Stone ,Pavlovich has said the station will feature some 17 radio stations, including 2 talkback stations and a crazy 240 licensed tracks.

As we saw previously, the legendary DJ Pooh was selected to host the West Coast Classics urban station, and Pavlovich has now revealed that Cali surf punks Wavves will be hosting the modern rock station name Vinewood Boulevard Radio. However, the Rockstar team seem to be most excited about one host in particular – Flying Lotus.

The acclaimed producer jumped early on in the project and was quick to bust out the Rolodex and call in the favours, hitting up Tyler, The Creator, apparently a long-time fan of the game. Tyler is set to feature as a guest on the station, dubbed FlyLo FM, and the pair also teamed up to contribute an original track, Garbage, to the soundtrack.

“You’ll find some classics on his station, but a lot of the station is based on unreleased new material, created either by [FlyLo] himself or friends of his who submitted music to him for this project,” Pavlovich adds.

Now, that’s all well and good when you’re in a vehicle but what about every other moment in the game? Well, more than 20 films worth of scores have been recorded for in-game play. The themes will change from character to character and, like most scores, are intended to respond to your character’s situation.

The folks over at the GTA Wiki have also been compiling a list of the tracks, stations and hosts which continue to be identified after the game files leaked last weekend. According to those cats, punk rock icon Keith Morris (OFF!, Black Flag, Circle Jerks) has been handed the reins to a punk station, and international supermodel Cara Delevingne will also be getting her DJ on for the pop station.

Pam Grier, Bootsy Collins and Kenny Loggins will also be returning as hosts for GTA V radio stations. You can check out updated soundtrack information below via the GTA V wiki below.
