Former Oasis member and the more-evil Gallagher brother, Noel Gallagher, has thrown a bit of cheeky shade the way of Sydney trio DMA’s, without ever having listened to their music.
Despite DMA’s breakout year in 2014, and despite the band being influenced by the Brit-pop stylings of Oasis, Noel Gallagher has accused the band of being fans of his brother, Liam, and said he’s ready to “boo them” at one of their performances.
During a recent interview with The Music, Gallagher admitted not having heard any of DMA’s music.
When Gallagher was told that DMA’s sound a lot like his former band, though not necessarily as good as Oasis, he replied, “I mean surely that would go without saying… When I wake up tomorrow, extremely hungover, I shall maybe get on my computer and see if I can find anything by these fuckin’ DMA’s.”
At the mention of bucket hats, Gallagher changed tack. “Oh, all right, okay, well they’re kinda Liam [Gallagher] fans really then,” he said.
Noel Gallagher’s current band, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, are on New York’s Governors Ball festival lineup this year, as are DMA’s. At the mention of the festival, Gallagher said, “I’ll have to watch them from side of stage and boo them.”
Whilst we get into our bunkers in preparation for the moment Gallagher and DMA’s meet backstage and the singularity extinguishes our universe as we know it, compare their music below. Read the story over at The Music.
