Papa Roach Announce First-Ever Australian Headline Tour

Written by Tom Williams on October 9, 2017

Papa Roach have stopped all the teasing and announced their first-ever Australian headline tour.

The California rockers, who teased plans for a 2018 Aussie tour back in August, have now secured a pair of headline shows in January, which will see them perform for fans in Melbourne and Sydney.

“This is the first time we have been able to bring our show to the people of Australia,” says frontman Jacoby Shaddix.

“We know that Aussies are some of the best fans in the world, and we have not been able to tour there as much as we had hoped, but our label Sony convinced us that we had to come over and start the process to build our base and we are more than ready for the challenge.”

When Papa Roach were last in Australia for Soundwave Festival back in 2015, Shaddix told Music Feeds the band wanted to come back down under “later [in 2015] or early 2016”, possibly for the 15th anniversary of their debut album, Infest. That didn’t happen, but the band released their latest album Crooked Teeth in May this year.

Shaddix says the internet has played a significant role in keeping the band’s fanbase strong.

“The internet has been a great tool and our fans are still finding us through YouTube and now Spotify helping us regenerate our audience after nearly 20 years as a band,” he says. “Our streaming numbers are pretty undeniable and they are growing rapidly.”
