Peter Garrett Leads BIGSOUND 2015 Guest Speaker Announcement

Australia’s biggest music industry conference is just a few months away and today BIGSOUND 2015’s first guest speakers have been announced with former federal minister, activist and Midnight Oil frontman Peter Garrett leading the pack.

In what is being billed as his first major music industry appearance since leaving federal parliament, Peter Garrett will deliver a keynote address at BIGSOUND this year, outlining his thoughts on the direction of the industry, public policy and will reflect on his own music career.

Also making a guest appearance at the music conference will be rapper and activist Brother Ali, fresh from his turn as a keynote speaker for the Nobel Peace Prize Forum and at Princeton University.

As is the case each year, BIGSOUND 2015 will also play host to a number of international music label reps, like RCA Records’ Senior Director of A&R Tunji Balogun (Kendrick Lamar, Diddy, OneRepublic), Harvest and Universal’s General Manager Jacqueline Sutton (TV On the Radio, Morrissey, Kasabian, Death Grips) and Goldenvoice/Coachella’s senior VP of talent buying Lesley Olenik Golindo.

It’s all going down in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley from September 9th-11th, for three days of panels, discussions and industry seminars. BIGSOUND will also feature around 140 bands who will play across 14 of Brisbane’s live music spaces.

Applications to play at this year’s event will close on May 15th and first live music line-up is expected to be announced in early June. Early-bird registration is open now. Those early tickets were capped at 100, but they sold do fats that organisers have now released another 50.

Head to the BIGSOUND website for more details.
