Queen Leak UK Sonisphere 2012 Cancellation

Written by Brayden Darke on March 29, 2012

UK leg of the summer festival Sonisphere 2012 appears to have been cancelled. Queen accidentally leaked the news via their website last night. The news has since been taken down, and no statement has been made from the festival.

Statement from queenonline.com

“It is with very heavy hearts and much regret that we announce the cancellation of Sonisphere Knebworth 2012”

Queen were due to headline the festival based at Knebworth Park Hertfordshire on the 6-8th July and had made a controversial announcement that American Idol winner Adam Lambert would be fronting the group with the intention to pay tribute to Freddie Mercury.

Other acts playing on the festival included Marilyn Manson, Incubus, Andrew WK, The Darkness, Mastodon and Australia’s own Wolfmother.

No official word yet from the organisers, but it’s sad to see that Australia is not the only country facing festival cancellations, with word that other UK fests will not be taking place.
