Queens Of The Stone Age Announce New Album Title, Cover Art And Samples

Queens Of The Stone Age are back to their old teaser tricks again, but this time, they’ve given us some pretty tasty treats in the build-up to their forthcoming record.

The band have confirmed the album will be called …Like Clockwork, and the title can be revealed on the website by refreshing the page and listening to each of the song snippets that were revealed on their official page overnight.

Upon entering the website, and clicking on the image (if music doesn’t play automatically already), you can hear a short snippet of new QOTSA music, presumably from the forthcoming album. There’s seven of these to discover.

The first sounds like a sonic last note from an orchestra (similar to the end of the ‘solo’ section of their 2002 triple j Hottest 100 topper No One Knows). The second sounds like typical stoner sludge, while the third changes course completely and features a male choir warming up their vocal chords.

Number four has a monster-waking-up-in-prison vibe, and the fifth contains furious drumming (hi Dave Grohl), reverb and a repeated riff.

The sixth one is a shot of rock to the system (to say it definitively), and to round things off, number seven keeps up the pace with a bit of a Middle-Eastern guitar vibe.

Oh, and the whole album will be out in June – specific date T.B.C. No doubt that will make be locked in real soon. Until then, enjoy clicking away on those samples, QOTSA fans.
