Could Queens Of The Stone Age’s New Album Be Released Before Splendour?

Hold on to your butts hombres because the new Queens Of The Stone Age album is officially in the bag.

The ...Like Clockwork follow-up has just passed the mixing process, with California company Lurssen Mastering posting a photo of the band on Instagram with confirmation that “An album just got mixed…”

It means that basically all that stands in the way of the new disc reaching our earholes is mastering, duplication and — you know — whatever the hell the release plan is.

QOTSA could chuck a Kendrick Lamar and smash us with the whole thing within weeks of releasing the first single, or they could drop a few singles like breadcrumbs over the space of several months before finally serving up the new LP in full.

Either way, frontman Josh Homme ~has~ confirmed that the stoner rock legends will be releasing at least one new single prior to their headlining performance at Splendour In The Grass and matching trio of Aussie sideshows this July, so a new dose of QOTSA is imminent regardless.

Meanwhile, it’s important to note that the band is continuing to fatten up their touring schedule, which includes some big ticket US appearances at San Francisco’s Outside Lands Festival and Riot Fest in Chicago this September post-Splendour, which generally indicates that they’re priming to plug the crap out of a new release.

So it’s pretty safe to say that, even if we don’t get the full LP in time for SITG, we probably won’t have to wait long afterwards for it to arrive.

It also means that we can likely expect QOTSA to bust out some brand spankers live during their trip Down Under as well, so get pumped for that.

In the meantime, you catch their full list of Aussie Splendour In The Grass sideshows here.
