Austrian Death Machine has been a lot more successful than you would ever expect an Arnold Schwarzenegger-themed band to be. Fearlessly led into battle by As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis, along with a composite of singer/songwriter Chad Ackerman and voice actor Josh Robert Thompson (together credited as ‘Ahhnold’), the trio are now gearing up for the release of their new studio album, and ADM have launched a crowdsourcing fund showing just how keen they are to get this happening.
The band – who sound like something from Metalocolypse, though we are assured they are real life human beings – started a campaign on Indiegogo aiming to raise $63,000 to fund and tour their third album, the follow-up to 2009’s Double Brutal. So far, the lads have raked in a cheeky $11,300 and looking at some of their incentives, it won’t take much longer to get the rest.
Of course, the usual rewards are there. For a small fee you’ll get access to the album and new material before most people, but if you’re willing to spend the big bucks, shit is gonna get real. Really real.
For $500, Lambesis will be your personal fitness instructor via correspondence. For $1000, you will earn yourself some studio hang times and an extra $500 on that will see you feature in a scream-a-long for the album. But none of that compares to the $5000 prize – Lambesis will get your initials tattooed on his ass, then take you out to dinner. It NEVER happens in that order!
Lambesis has decided to put all his focus towards the novelty act after being overwhelmed by fans on recent tours who were requesting, nay, demanding a third album. Ask, and you shall receive. More details (and photos of bottoms) are sure to come.
