UPDATE 16/09/16 2:15pm AEST: Shannon Noll has unveiled what his “exciting announcement” is all about, sharing a new single called Who I Am which is all about utes and ‘Strayan stuff.
ORIGINAL STORY: Shannon Noll may not be the hero Australia deserves, but he’s the hero we need right now, and today, on his birthday, Nollsie has taken to Facebook to tease some “exciting news”.
Nollsie’s rise to the status of cult Aussie hero has as much to do with his relatability as a classic Aussie battler as it does his music.
Case in point — Noll this morning joined the increasing number of artists making the most of Facebook’s live video feature, where he revealed that later today he’d be making a big announcement.
“I’m going live later today with a very exciting announcement that I just can’t wait to tell you all about,” he says in the clip below, before explaining how users can be notified about the announcement later in the day.
Then, the most incredible thing happens. “See youse later on, cheers” he says, before taking a full 12 seconds to awkwardly work out how to end the live feed.
What the announcement will be is anyone’s guess — some Facebook users are hoping it’s the announcement that Nollsie will feature on the new $100 note, while others have speculated that a rematch against Guy Sebastian will finally take place.
What we do know for sure is that Nollsie will be touring with fellow Aussie legend John Farnham later in 2016.
