Singer Alejandro ‘Jano’ Fuentes Dies After Being Shot In The US

Singer and former The Voice contestant Alejandro ‘Jano’ Fuentes has died after being shot in the head three times during a carjacking in Chicago earlier this week.

As The Chicago Tribune reports, 45-year-old Fuentes died on Saturday, 19th June as a result of the injuries he sustained while celebrating his birthday with friends on Thursday, 16th June.

Fuentes, who competed in the Mexican version of The Voice in 2011, was ambushed outside his Tras Bambalinas performing arts school on Chicago’s south-west side on Thursday night, when an armed man ordered him out of a car. The singer was shot after he reportedly refused to vacate the vehicle.

Fuentes was rushed to hospital following the attack, where his family and friends say he was placed on life support so that relatives could arrive from Mexico.

Police have no suspects in the attack, but are investigating whether the shooting was an attempted carjacking or a robbery.

Fuentes’ death comes the day after the funeral of Christina Grimmie, a former contestant on the US version of The Voice who died after being shot following her concert in Orlando, Florida last week.
