Slipknot Share Another Creepy Video, Tease “Friday” Announcement

Slipknot have shared the fifth in their series of creepy teaser videos with their fans. Posted with yet another mysterious caption — “Succumb To/The Selfish/Creation” — fan speculation this time has focused more on a recent tweet by frontman Corey Taylor, reading simply, “Heheh. Friday.”

All the characters from the previous clips appear in number five — the woman in charcoal black, the girl handling goat heads, and the woman with the bloody mouth, just to name a few — though it now appears as though a ritual is taking place, with the process and result slowly being unveiled to fans.

The band began sharing the clips earlier this month, as anticipation mounts for the band’s long-awaited fifth studio album. After confirming that the new record was currently in the mixing stages of production, Taylor promised fans that a “big announcement” would be happening “soon.”

Taylor recently elaborated on the process behind the new album, which was recorded without bassist Paul Gray and drummer Joey Jordison. “We knew it was gonna be heavy. We knew it was gonna be one of those things where it’s like, ‘Okay, we’re in uncharted territory right now,'” he said.

“And Jim [Root, guitarist] and Clown [Shawn Crahan, percussionist] really stepped up,” he continued. “You know, they kind of started leading the charge and really getting stuff together. So by the time we really got into the studio, we had a really great template of music to check out.”
