St. Kilda Festival 2014 First Lineup Announcement

The organisers of the 2014 St. Kilda Festival have announced the first round of homegrown acts set to play the festival’s 34th instalment. The first lineup announcement includes names such as Tully on Tully, The Dandens, House of Laurence, Lester the Fierce, Artist Proof, and more.

Readers can check out the full list of artists now added to the roster of one of Melbourne’s most beloved local music and culture events, below. Punters can vote for their favourite New Music Stage bands, with the winner taking home $5,000 and a chance to play the festival’s main stage in 2015.

The full 2014 St. Kilda Festival program will be announced on Monday, 6th January, with Festival Producer Adele Denison confirming that the 34th St Kilda Festival will include over 150 artists performing across seven stages, and more than 40 St. Kilda venues.

“The St Kilda Festival showcases the diversity of Australian music and culture, and we’re thrilled to offer a nine day program that delivers the biggest stage for both emerging artists and established musicians,” said Denison. Past performers include Sneaky Sound System and The Living End.

The 34th St. Kilda Festival is set to open with Yalukit Wilum Ngargee: People Place Gathering, taking place in O’Donnell Gardens on Saturday, 1st February, boasting a range of local artists including Yirrmal and the Yolngu Boys, Crystal Mercy and singer-songwriter Benny Walker.

From Sunday, 2nd February to Saturday, 8th, Live N Local will be bringing music lovers performances from up-and-comers including Baberaham Lincoln, Bella and the Mellows, Riot in Toytown, Sunday Chairs and blues-rockers White Summer.

Meanwhile Festival Sunday, on Sunday, 9th February will see internationally acclaimed acts taking the stage in sunny St. Kilda, plus a huge range of activities, stalls and events spanning the festival site, with plenty for the family including crowd favourite Humphrey B Bear.
