Taylor Swift To Perform At This Year’s Aria Awards

Written by Marc Zanotti on October 9, 2012

The Aria Awards have announced this year’s international act as the deaf-defying Taylor Swift. Swift, whose current single We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together has gone double platinum in Australia, will be performing alongside a plethora of local talent, including The Temper Trap, The Jezabels and Hilltop Hoods.

Each of the aforementioned Australian acts are nominated for this year’s Best Group Aria Award while The Temper Trap and The Jezabels are also vying for Album of the Year, coming up against 360, Gotye and Missy Higgins. As for the involvement of Swift in the annual celebration, Aria CEO Dan Rosen feels that the presence of the pop country princess will add to the luster of the evening.

“Taylor Swift is a genuine superstar on the international stage… we welcome Taylor and look forward to having her join an amazing lineup of Australian performers on our industry’s biggest night,” Rosen stated in a press release.

As Music Feeds previously reported, the 26th Aria Awards have been moved to a new day in a different location, shifting from its traditional Sunday slot to Thursday, November 29 and leaving the sizeable confines of Allphones Arena in Olympic Park for Sydney’s Entertainment Centre.
