Tool Bass Player Reveals Their New Record Is 90% Completed

The will they/won’t they of whether Tool might release an album in 2017 is undoubtedly becoming tiresome, but we may have just heard the most positive news yet from the band’s bass player.

In an interview with Metal Sucks, Tool bassist Justin Chancellor revealed that the album is very close to completion.

“We’re about 90% there,” he said in response to a question about when we can expect the album.

“Ya know, it’s been like a crazy science project,” Chancellor continued. “We’ve just been really picky with what we want to put on this new album and really want to come up with something really unique. Plus, we have endless amounts of material to sift through.”

The most recent news before this latest revelation came in the form of Tool uploading new visuals to their website; their first update to the site in ten years.

In January this year Maynard James Keenan appeared to suggest that the new album had hit roadblocks, but did announce the very next month that the band had moved to a bigger studio to help get the recording done.

But until we get an official announcement, we continue to wait and pray.
