Watch: Blur play The Brit Awards

Written by Michael Carr on February 22, 2012

Coming off the back of their being announced as playing the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics, Blur took to the stage last night at The Brit Awards to deliver their first performance in several years.

Sounding a little the worse for wear, assumedly having done plenty of drink and smoke related damage to his voice that night as well as in the intervening years since they last played, Damon Albarn nevertheless did his frontman thing demanding some participation for Girls & Boys and not getting much, to his noticeable consternation. Graham Coxon and the rest of the band were kind of just standing around rather listlessly on stage, even during Song 2, which the whole band seem a little old to carry off properly. However, take all of this with a grain of salt as it is The Brit Awards, I’d be shit if I was playing the celebration of banality as well.
