Watch Paul McCartney Help A Fan Pop The Question Mid-Concert

Having written some of the most enduring love songs in all of popular music, it was only right that Paul McCartney recently helped two lovebirds take their first steps towards matrimony. During a concert in Albany, New York, Macca helped Rochester resident John Dann propose to his girlfriend.

While performing an encore at the end of his three-hour-long, 38-song set, Sir Paul spotted Dann and his now-fiancee, Claudia Rodgers, in the crowd. Rodgers was holding a sign that read, “He won’t marry me ’til he meets you,” while Dann bore a sign that read, “I have the ring and I’m 64.”

As the Guardian Liberty Voice reports, Macca pulled Dann, 64, and Rodgers, 60, onto the stage in front of some 13,000 McCartney fans, who cheered Dann on as he sang the Beatles classic When I’m Sixty-Four to his beloved, while McCartney and his band provided an accompaniment.

Afterward, Dann dropped to one knee and asked for Rodgers’ hand in marriage. Rodgers accepted, much to the approval of the cheering crowd. The Saturday night concert was McCartney’s first since he was forced to cancel a series of shows due to a virus he’d contracted while visiting Japan.
