The release date for Sigur Rós’ brand new offering has seriously crept up on us. Friday, 14th June is but a stone’s throw away, but instead of waiting, the band have released another track from the album. This time the title track from Kveikur has been revealed hand in hand with a video feature.
Previously, the band had explained that the new full-length will be a far more ‘aggressive’ affair than anything else from the band. This description lines up nicely with the new single and clip. Both hold a furious energy and a continuous climax before the sudden stop. We’ve seen similar traits in other singles lifted from the album, including Brennisteinn.
For the video, the band incorporated similar visuals to their live performance that have been borrowed from the British film Institute’s archives. This probably contributes to the aforementioned furious energy of the whole thing.
