Watch: Steve Buscemi Covers Vampire Weekend’s ‘Diane Young’

If Nucky Thompson wants to butcher one of your songs, you damn well let him, and that appeared to be Vampire Weekend‘s thinking during the New York Easter Parade when actor Steve Buscemi (still self-taught with no lessons) covered the New York band’s latest single, Diane Young.

Armed with nothing but his voice and an old-fashioned megaphone, the dapperly dressed Buscemi gave a brief but haunting (read ‘terrifying’) rendition of the new track, with Vampire Weekend gathering around to hear what might have been if Buscemi fronted the band instead of Ezra Koenig.

Diane Young is one of two singles, the other being Step, to be taken from Vampire Weekend’s upcoming third album Modern Vampires Of The City ahead of its release.

The band recently pushed back the release date of their new album, by one week, due to “unanticipated delays in the production of physical copies of the record”. Modern Vampires Of The City is now slated for a US release date of 14th May and 13th May internationally .
