The Roots annual picnic has become a staple of Philadelphia’s festival scene, kicking off the summer at Festival Pier.
This year’s picnic saw some incredible performances from the likes of DMX, Blood Orange and Leon Bridges. Usher was joined by Lil John, The Roots themselves and Yuna for his set, while the only disappointment came in the form of Future’s cancelled set.
Perhaps the highlight of the whole festival came in the middle of Willow Smith‘s performance. She shocked the whole crowd by calling out none other than Philadelphia’s own Prince of Bel-Air; her dad Will – and the two sung his 1991 smash Summertime as a duet.
They were joined by DJ Jazzy Jeff, and shortly afterwards it became a family affair with Willow’s mum Jayda Pinkett Smith coming out to raucous applause.
