Aussie electro duo The Presets have come out swinging against the death penalty, showing support for the families of Bali Nine duo Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran, whose execution has been set for this week.
Posting to Facebook in the early hours of Sunday morning, The Presets’ Julian and/or Kim shared their strong opinion on what they call the “state-sanctioned murder” of the convicted drug-traffickers, causing a divisive response from fans.
Calling some of the more ridiculous responses bigoted, the Sydney dance-lords went as far as telling those that disagree to “please… unfollow us, delete all our music and stop listening to us altogether. peace.”
Not stopping there however, The Presets went on a comment rampage, responding to individual comments with some real dynamite comebacks. “You say something dumb or off topic then be ready to get ripped. Game on.” copped one hater whilst another got it given to them straight up:
“If you agree with murder, lack compassion and openly display those views on our page then yes, you are a total cunt and can fuck off . I don’t care if that offends, if you truly have delicate sensibilities then surely you are not a passive murderer.”
Amongst the c-bomb dropping and righteous fury, The Presets also reminded everyone that they have long since been a politically minded group, pointing to their 2007 hit My People, which referenced asylum seeker treatment under the Howard government.
