Islander, a nu metal band from South Carolina, has been booted from the Vans Warped Tour for damaging a drum-kit on stage. The kicker is – the drum-kit did not belong to them.
In a video posted on the band’s Facebook page, the band revealed that they had been removed from the last-ever Vans Warped Tour lineup after damaging the kit.
“We just wanted to say to anybody that planned to come out and hang out with us at Vans Warped Tour, we’re not going to be able to be there unfortunately because we goofed up today,” said lead singer Mikey Carvajal.
“During the last song of our set, I dove into the drum kit, just some of that punk rock energy that I’ve got just ran through my veins, and I didn’t even think about the fact that we were using a backline kit that didn’t belong to us. I ended up putting a dent in one of the floor toms, so we’ve been asked to be removed from Warped Tour.”
He then goes on to encourage Islander fans to still attend the tour.
“This is not a reason for you guys not to go and support all the incredible bands,” he said. “It’s an amazing year and because it’s ending we are so thankful that we got to play even one day of it.”
