Armed Police Called To Kylie Minogue Concert In Germany, Following Threats

Armed police have been called in to protect a Kylie Minogue concert in the German city of Cologne, after threats were allegedly made against the singer on social media.

There are reports that around 20 police armed with sub-machine guns guarded Minogue’s Cologne concert on Tuesday night, after a threat was reportedly received from a Belgian man.

“The concert organiser approached us about a possible threat scenario resulting from social media,” a police spokesman told German news agency DPA. “We can’t remain idle with something like that.”

Pictures of a man were reportedly placed at the concert venue’s entrance, while all male attendees were also frisked upon arrival, but the concert went off “without any disturbance”.

Earlier this month, Kylie Minogue announced a new Australian tour for 2019, off the back of her latest album, Golden.

The singer-songwriter is yet to publicly comment on the security at her Cologne show.
