Splendour In The Grass Announce Forum, Science and Comedy Club Programs For 2019

With Splendour in the Grass 2019 fast approaching, the festival have released the lineups for their Forum, Science Tent and Comedy Club programs. There’s some great stuff amongst it all, and it’s well-worth having a look in when you’re not having a boogie.

Returning for its 10th year, Splendour Forum will play host to some big discussions about the issues that matter right now.

We reckon some of the highlights will be the TREATY panel on Friday, where Indigenous voices including DRMNGNOW, model and poet Lala Bayes, academic Dr. Chelsea Bond and NITV journalists Rachel Hocking and Danny Teece Johnson will come together to discuss a vision of moving forward and empowering First Nations People.

And on Sunday, a very special Q&A edition will take place as ABC presenter Emma Alberici is joined by Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese, Greens Senator Peter Whish-Wilson, harm minimisation and pill-testing advocate Dr. David Caldicott and Will Connolly – better known as #Eggboy.

Also, giant nerds rejoice, returning to Splendour this year is the Science Tent, bringing a bunch of interactive experiences and discussions across the weekend.

If you’re a regular festival attendee, you’re no stranger to the shoey – the polarising act of consuming beer from an orthopaedic vessel (you may recall Kacey Musgraves refusing to take part in the admittedly gross ritual at her Sydney show last month). Join Quill Darby from Fizzics Education as she dives into the trend to explore the hygiene of the shoey, asks “Is there a best beverage type or temperature for your shoey”, and lets you grow some of your very own shoe bacteria.

Elsewhere, Dr. Karl is coming back to the Splendour campgrounds to bring you on a trip through science, mythbusting A2 milk and alkaline diets, discussing how the human race nearly got wiped out a few Halloweens ago, and answering that much-pondered question – “Do fish drink water?”

Finally, the Splendour Comedy Club will see the likes of triple j legend Gen Fricker and Splendour veteran Matt Okine take the stage for when you need a big ol’ giggle between sets.
Splendour in the Grass 2019 all goes down July 19-21 at North Byron Parklands, featuring Chance the Rapper, Tame Impala, Childish Gambino and SZA to name a few. If you’re keen but missed out on a ticket, check out the resale facility here. There are tickets available now.
