Well Then, Here’s Renowned Jazz Musician Jeff Goldblum Playing At Glastonbury With Sharon Van Etten

Look, it may not be a competition, but Jeff Goldblum definitely won Glastonbury.

The actor/jazz musician performed at the festival over the weekend along with his band, The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra, playing a number of jazz classics by the likes of Herbie Hancock and Nat King Cole.

Goldblum also announced there was a second album on the way from him and the Orchestra, after the band’s Capitol Studios Sessions came out back in November of last year.

The album will include a rendition of the 1936 Irving Berlin tune ‘Let’s Face the Music and Dance’ that features vocals from Sharon Van Etten.

Van Etten joined Goldblum and the band onstage during the Glastonbury set, with Jeff commenting “The great Sharon Van Etten. We’re going to do a tune that – can I say? – we recorded for a new record on Decca”, referring to the iconic label, which Capitol Studios Sessions was released through.

“Getting to do another album with the sweet, sweet, enchanted elves and sprites from Decca has me floating on air, somebody please pinch me (ow, not so hard),” said Goldblum.

“I only hope that listeners feel what I felt when we made the record – an explosive release of ecstasy. It’s amazing to let the cat a bit out of the bag here at Glastonbury in the fleshy flesh!”

As Consequence of Sound report, there was also a nod to Goldblum’s illustrious role as Dr. Ian Malcolm in the Jurassic Park franchise, with fans singing the film’s iconic theme at the beginning of the set. Goldblum played the tune on piano in response, and as the set closed, his band reprised the theme. Watch that moment below, it rules.
