Critically acclaimed US singer-songwriter Sharon Van Etten is coming down under to play her first ever live shows on Aussie soil with her bold new project, Sharon Van Etten & The Attachment Theory, in celebration of their eponymous 2025 debut album.
As well as headlining Castlemaine’s Town Folk Festival, Sharon and her band will also embark on a national theatre tour. They’re set to visit fans in Hobart, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne this November, with Melbourne powerhouse Cash Savage recruited for support duties at all shows.

Departing from her traditionally solo song-writing approach, this new project marks Van Etten’s first fully-fledged collaboration with her longtime bandmates Jorge Balbi (drums), Devra Hoff (bass) and Teeny Lieberson (synth, piano, guitar, vocals).
Their new self-titled LP also represents a bold sonic shift away from Van Etten’s earlier indie-folk soundscapes towards darker, more atmospheric vibes and gothic post-punk influences. The record is steeped in brooding synths, mantra-like motifs and a pivot away from traditional verse-chorus structures.
Sharon Van Etten last paid us a visit back in 2022 for her Darkness Fades solo tour, which saw her sell out Sydney Opera House and two Northcote Theatres.
Her debut lap with Sharon Van Etten & The Attachment Theory will see the celebrated muso perform songs from her new project’s freshly-minted album, along with classics from across her beloved catalogue.
