Thornhill Share New Single ‘Nurture’, Announce Debut Album And Melbourne Release Show

Melbourne metalcore outfit Thornhill have revealed the details of their forthcoming debut album The Dark Pool, sharing a video for new single ‘Nurture’ and announcing a Melbourne record release show.

Due out Friday, 25th October courtesy of UNFD, The Dark Pool follows the band’s 2018 EP Butterfly.

Forming in 2016, Thornhill have steadily cemented themselves in Australia’s heavy music scene through frequent touring, playing alongside titans like Northlane, Architects and Parkway Drive.

“We wanted it to have enough difference that people would be surprised, and it would also allow us to keep branching out down the track,” says the band’s Jacob Charlton.

“We wanted to sprinkle enough in The Dark Pool that we could continue to build on, we never want to pigeon hole ourselves into a genre, that was never the point of Thornhill. We just want to be exactly who we want to be every single time.”

The band say that The Dark Pool touches on “common threads of humanity”, exploring topics such as anxiety and loss.

“Every theme and meaning on this album is in direct relation to my life at any point of writing. It helps me to draw from experiences and moments that feel real to me so that I can translate that emotion into something people can relate to. You don’t have to listen to this and think about what I believe the song is to me, I would love for you to take away your own meaning and make your own story that makes you feel like this record is about you,” Charlton says.

Thornhill will officially launch The Dark Pool with an album release show at Stay Gold in Melbourne on Friday, 15th November, with support from Deadlights, Mirrors and Tapestry.
