Taylor Swift Will Reportedly Be Performing At This Year’s Melbourne Cup

UPDATE 22/09/19: Taylor Swift Cancels Melbourne Cup Appearance Due To Scheduling Conflicts.

UPDATE 12/09/19: The Victoria Racing Club has confirmed Taylor Swift will perform at Lexus Melbourne Cup Day on Tuesday 5 November 2019.

Huge news for this year’s Melbourne Cup, as Taylor Swift – arguably the biggest artist in the world – will reportedly be making the trip to Australia for a one-off, exclusive performance at the event.

News broke that she had been approached for the gig earlier this month, but now The Herald Sun is reporting that it is confirmed.

In a statement to promoter Michael Gudinski, Swift said “I can’t wait to come to Melbourne, and I can’t wait to come to the Melbourne Cup.”

This will apparently be an exclusive performance, with Swift playing no other shows while she’s in Australia. She’ll be performing two tracks from her latest album, Lover.

This will mark Swift’s first time in the country since late last year, when she was here for the Reputation stadium tour.

Lover is doing as well as anyone would expect it to, but it has recently been toppled on the Billboard 200 by Tool’s Fear Inoculum – something Maynard James Keenan is having a laugh at.
