Taylor Swift Announces New Netflix Documentary ‘Miss Americana’

Amidst all of the controversy surrounding Taylor Swift and Scooter Braun, Swift revealed that she had a documentary with Netflix in the works. Now, that documentary has been officially announced.

Titled Miss Americana, likely inspired by Lover track ‘Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince’, it will debut at Sundance Film Festival next year and is directed by Lana Miller.

Reported by Pitchfork, the film is described as “raw and emotionally revealing look at one of the most iconic artists of our time during a transformational period in her life as she learns to embrace her role not only as a songwriter and performer, but as a woman harnessing the full power of her voice.”

Swift revealed that the documentary was in the works in a statement earlier this year, calling out Scooter Braun and Scott Borchetta for reportedly not letting her use her old music in the documentary, or to perform it at the American Music Awards.

These claims were disputed by Borchetta and Braun, and Swift was allowed to perform the songs in a medley of hits at the AMAsVariety has reported that a source said that the music has also been cleared for the film.
