Watch Director’s Cut Footage Of The Cure Playing ‘Disintegration’ At The Sydney Opera House

You may recall that The Cure performed a series of headline shows at the Sydney Opera House back in May of this year as part of Vivid. Hell, you may have even been one of the lucky ducks that managed to score a ticket.

At the shows, the legendary goth-rock outfit performed iconic 1989 album Disintegration in full to celebrate its 30th anniversary. One of the shows – on May 30th, 2019 – was live streamed online.

Now we have been gifted absolutely crystal-clear footage from the “Director’s Cut” edition of the concert film, with live videos for ‘Pictures of You’, ‘Plainsong’ and the album’s title track now available to stream as captured by British filmmaker Nick Wickham.

A release date for the full concert film is yet to be announced, but frontman Robert Smith has commented that it “can’t be too far away.”

Back in October, Smith revealed the very exciting news that The Cure currently have three albums in the works, and that the first – tentatively titled Live from the Moon – could be released by the end of the year (AKA, real soon).

Interestingly, Smith commented back in August that Live from the Moon‘s soundscapes are reminiscent of the sonic textures found on Disintegration – “I was trying to create a big palette, a big wash of sound,” he said.

The band’s last album was 2008’s 4:13 Dream.
