Watch Ben Gibbard Cover “The Bones Are Their Money” From ‘I Think You Should Leave’

Ben Gibbard, stuck at home in self-isolation, has been performing live streamed acoustic sets at his home studio for the past week. He’s been diving deep into the back catalogue, playing Death Cab for Cutie and Postal Service favourites, and even premiering a new song entitled ‘Life in Quarantine’.

For the most recent session, Gibbard gave a very special all-covers performance. He opened with John Lennon’s apt ‘Isolation’, quickly clarifying that he wasn’t going to cover ‘Imagine’ as that song has “suffered enough in the last week.”

He went on to cover a smorgasbord of songs as requested by fans, such Rilo Kiley’s ‘Silver Lining’, Big Star’s ‘Thirteen’, ‘New Slang’ by The Shins, and more from the likes of Elliott Smith, Phoebe Bridgers, Bob Dylan, Def Leppard and The Flaming Lips.

He also covered ‘The Bones Are Their Money’ – yes, as in, the song from Tim Robinson’s very good Netflix comedy I Think You Should Leave. That one starts around 44 minutes in.

During the stream, Ben encouraged fans to donate to Country Doctor, an organisation that provides medical care for people without insurance, who are undocumented, or are otherwise not able to go to a regular hospital.
