NSW Is Reintroducing A Number Of COVID-19 Restrictions

The NSW government has announced a number of COVID-19 restrictions will be returning. It comes as an attempt to prevent the spread, as new clusters are arising.

NSW Premier, Gladys Berejiklian has announced that as of next Friday, 24th July, the COVID-19 restrictions introduced to pubs will be extended to cafes, clubs, restaurants, and all indoor venues.

Further to the restrictions on those indoor venues, weddings and events are capped at 150, or one person per every four square metres. Patrons at these events will need to remain seated. Funerals and places of worship are capped at 100 or again, the four square metre rule.

Currently, there’s still a 20 person maximum rule on private indoor gatherings in NSW but the premier says it could drop to 10 soon.

“These measures we are bringing in are to protect NSW. These measures will reduce the risk of community transmission getting out of control,” said Gladys Berejiklian.

Further COVID-19 restrictions will be introduced from tomorrow as well. Bookings in venues will be capped at 10 people per table and a maximum of 300 people in venues at one time or one customer per four square metres.

“From Saturday, 18th July, all pubs must ensure their COVID Safety Plan is registered with the NSW Government,” NSW Health stated on their website.

As well as that, COVID-safe hygiene marshalls will be required in each venue and will need to be easily identified.
