ARIA Is Offering Recording Grants To First Nations Artists

ARIA is teaming up with the Phonographic Performance Company of Australia (PPCA) and Australia Council to offer up five recording grants to First Nations artists.

The five grants come at a value of $18,500 each and come as part of the ARIA, PPCA, Australia Council First Nations Sound Recording Partnership. Applications are open right now and close on Tuesday, 20th October at 3pm AEST. You can lodge your application here.

The grant money is to be used for new recordings and is driven by ARIA’s initiative to get more Aboriginal artists into studios. Successful applicants will score themselves $18,500 in grant money and get to meet industry professionals ready to offer up advice around music, releases, and growing your audience.

“The Australian Government is proud to partner on these grants that will see five First Nations artists supported to record and promote their music,” says Minister for Communications, Cyber Safety and the Arts, Paul Fletcher MP, in a statement on the grants.

“This will help them reach more people and build new professional networks across the Australian music industry.”

While ARIA’s CEO Dan Rosen says the grant is designed to help amplify the voices of our First Nations community.

“I look forward to hearing the music that will be created as the result of these grants, and also to work towards a more diverse and inclusive Australian music industry.”

“We can’t wait to hear the exciting new releases that will be made possible through these new grants,” said Rosen.
