Remix royalty, 100 gecs have reimagined a Linkin Park Hybrid Theory classic, ‘One Step Closer’ and the result is amazing.
100 gecs sprinkle their genre-melding magic and transform the song into this heavy, electro-pop masterpiece.
The ‘One Step Closer’ remix, which absolutely slaps, comes as party of Linkin Park’s Reanimation series. The band is enlisting a bunch of new artists to remix their 2000 classics, with more to come soon.
“Part of the spirit of Reanimation was to take the Hybrid Theory songs that people knew so well, and let innovative artists flip them in ways nobody expected,” says the band’s Mike Shinoda.
“I think 100 gecs did exactly that.”
The remix is accompanied by a music video, it sees one half of the gecs glue a house of cards together in a cloak and mask.
100 gecs’ ‘One Step Closer’ remix’ follows up last year’s holiday anthem ‘sympathy 4 the grinch’.
