Glastonbury Cancelled Again, For Second Year

Glastonbury Festival has been axed for the second year in a row. Usually held towards the end of June, the 2021 instalment of the festival has been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Organisers released a statement announcing the cancellation. “This will be another enforced fallow year for us,” they said.

“In spite of our efforts to move Heaven & Earth, it has become clear that we simply will not be able to make the Festival happen this year. We are so sorry to let you all down.”

Organisers have said that, same as last year, punters who secured tickets back in 2019 (!!!) may roll it over as a deposit for the next year. Offering them a guaranteed Glastonbury 2022 ticket.

“We are very appreciative of the faith and trust placed in us by those of you with deposits,” organisers said. “We are very confident we can deliver something really special for us all in 2022!”

The 2020 lineup for the festival was insane. Kendrick Lamar, Taylor Swift, Paul McCartney, and Diana Ross were slated as headliners for the event. Dua Lipa, Anderson .Paak, Noel Gallagher, Phoebe Bridgers, Lana Del Rey, HAIM and The Avalanches all appeared on the lineup too.

Internationally, festivals are expected to pick back up once the countries achieve herd immunity. In the US some are saying they may achieve 70% immunity by their Autumn, our Spring.
