St. Vincent Teases New Album ‘Daddy’s Home’ With Street Posters

A few months ago, Annie Clark – aka St. Vincent – revealed that she would be releasing an album this year, tweeting, “The rumors are true. New record “locked and loaded” for 2021,” back in December.

Now, it appears Clark has confirmed the album will be titled Daddy’s Home and will arrive Friday, 14th May via Loma Vista Recordings.

A photograph of some street posters have emerged on Reddit discussion groups and social media which show Clark alongside copy that confirms the songwriter is “back with a record of all-new songs”.

“Warm Wurlitzers and wit, glistening guitars and grit, with sleaze and style for days,” reads the ad. “Taking you from uptown to downtown with the artist who makes you expect the unexpected. So sit back, light up, and by all means have that bourbon waiting, because… DADDY’S HOME.”

The posters confirm the release date and label, and also appear to show the album artwork. Check it out below.

The poster’s visual aesthetic and copy echoes what Clark said of the album in an interview with MOJO back in December, when she said she drew inspiration from classic 70s cinema.

“I just wanted to capture the colors, the film stock, and tell these stories of being down and out, down on your luck… I felt I had gone as far as I could possibly go with angularity,” Clark explained.

“I was interested in going back to the music I’ve listened to more than any other—Stevie Wonder records from the early ’70s, Sly and the Family Stone. I studied at the feet of those masters.”

Daddy’s Home will mark the first new studio album from Clark under her St. Vincent moniker since 2017’s Masseduction and its companion album of reworked songs, 2018’s MassEducation.
