Jordison’s death was confirmed this week by a representative of his family. They said he died peacefully in his sleep on Monday, 26th July, and are yet to confirm a cause of death. He was 46 years old.

“Joey’s death has left us with empty hearts and feelings of indescribable sorrow,” said his family in an official statement.

“To those that knew Joey, understood his quick wit, his gentle personality, giant heart and his love for all things family and music.

Jordison was part of Slipknot from the band’s inception until 2013, where he cited “personal reasons” as the reason for his departure. In 2016 he revealed his departure from the band was the result of a medical condition, which affected the use of his legs.

“I couldn’t play anymore,” he said. “It was a form of multiple sclerosis, which I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. I got myself back up, and I got myself in the gym and I got myself back in fucking therapy, to fucking beat this shit.”
