Korn Singer Jonathan Davis Contracts Covid-19 Midway Through US Tour

Nu metal heroes Korn are back on the road, with a mammoth run of US tour dates scheduled until late September. However, just one week into the band’s Summer Tour, singer Jonathan Davis has tested positive for COVID-19.

Along with support act Staind, Korn kicked off the tour in Florida in early August. They made it through six shows unscathed before a last minute cancellation of their show in Scranton, Pennsylvania on Saturday, 14th August.

“Unfortunately, there has been a confirmed COVID-19 case within the Korn camp,” said a statement posted to the band’s social media accounts. Their next show wasn’t for another three days, but before they made it there, Davis was revealed as the positive case.

“On Saturday, we received the unfortunate news that Jonathan tested positive for Covid, and needless to say, we had to postpone the show last minute,” said Korn. They’ve rescheduled the next handful of tour dates, including the Scranton show. Two shows have also been cancelled, but they’re aiming to be back in action in Noblesville, Indiana on Saturday, 28th August – giving Davis a 14-day recovery time.

“Jonathan’s spirits are high, and he’s resting and recovering now,” says the band’s latest update. While Davis’ vaccination status is unknown, Korn’s Summer Tour is presented by Live Nation, who recently announced all artists, crew members and attendees must show proof of full vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test for an event to go ahead. However, this policy doesn’t come into effect until Monday, 4th October.
