New Global Dance Event ‘The Nowhere Festival’ To Launch In Sydney

Introducing The Nowhere Festival: a new global dance music event set to make its international debut in Sydney this summer.

Billed by organisers as a “one-of-a-kind transformative experience is set to challenge perceptions and awaken the senses”, the inaugural event will take place on Sydney’s picturesque Cockatoo Island across two days in February of 2025, with 50 international and Australian live acts and DJs, art installations and more.

Leading the lineup are globally renowned DJs and two of Detroit’s musical luminaries, Carl Craig and Moodymann, who are set to wow punters with a rare back-to-back DJ set. They will be joined by Italian sensation Adiel, known for hypnotic sets in Ibiza and Goa Ultrabeat residency in Rome. Berlin icon Marcel Dettmann, heralded for destroying the hallowed walls of the infamous Berghain nightclub, also joins the esteemed list of international names.

While on the local front, we have local DJ faves Adi Toohey, Mad Racket DJs, Barney Kato, Reenie, Magda Bytnerowicz, Kate Doherty, Ezra, Lorna Clarkson and more.

Nowhere Festival Founder Jody Coker said: “A collective of the world’s best promoters and producers are curating The Nowhere Festival experience – bringing an unparalleled depth of creativity and music to explore and discover.“

Coker’s vision also encompasses four stages that push the boundaries of artistic expression, promising “epic world-class production values creating an immersive labyrinth of festivities in tunnels, passages, forecourts and industrial buildings”.

The so-called ‘Turbine Hall’ will take punters in a “surreal industrial portal into the unknown”, while the outdoor ‘Eastern Apron’, ‘Red Room’ and ‘Rabbit Hole’ stages take full advantage of Cockatoo Island’s historical surroundings and stunning harbour backdrops.

Campers will stay in Cockatoo Island’s award-winning urban campground, with accom packages ranging from pre-erected basic tents to premium options furnished with creature comforts.

After debuting in Sydney across the weekend of February 8th and 9th 2025, the festival will expand its presence to the UK, Dubai and Barcelona.
