#1 Dads Announces First Australian Tour In Six Years

#1 Dads is officially coming home, with Tom Iansek announcing his first Australian tour under the moniker in six years.

The Melbourne-bred, London-based artist will embark on an extensive 16-date national run this October and November, venturing well beyond the usual capital city circuit for a stack of intimate solo performances in support of his forthcoming fourth #1 Dads album, Every Little Fire.

Due out Friday, 16th October via Pieater and available to pre-order here, Every Little Fire marks Iansek’s first #1 Dads record since 2020’s Golden Repair.

#1 Dads – ‘Already Something’

For the upcoming tour, Iansek will strip things right back, performing solo and drawing from across the #1 Dads catalogue alongside material from Every Little Fire.

And it sounds like the stripped-back format has also given him an excuse to get properly off the beaten touring path, with shows locked in everywhere from Mt Glorious and Murwillumbah to Bellingen, Maitland, Port Kembla and Beechworth.

“As you may already know I moved to the UK a few years ago but I have thoroughly missed Australia and I have really missed being on the road,” Iansek says.

“I’ve missed the pre-show nerves, chatting to people after shows, the Hume, coffee and car tunes, finding the best place to eat.”

“This tour is special as I’ll be performing by myself, which is fairly new to me and certainly new to #1 Dads,” he continues. “The beauty of this means that I can take the show well off the beaten path, which you can see from all the amazing regional dates.”

“I’m so stoked to be performing all of these shows, playing some new tunes from the album (along with some classics) and I hope you can make it along to one.”

Iansek has been a fixture of the Australian music landscape for more than two decades, both through #1 Dads and as one half of Big Scary and No Mono. He’s also become a sought-after producer, working with artists including Maple Glider, Kate Miller-Heidke, The Paper Kites, Ruby Gill and Lisa Mitchell.

His #1 Dads catalogue stretches back to 2011 debut Man Of Leisure, followed by the ARIA-nominated About Face in 2014 and Golden Repair in 2020.

His forthcoming LP was created following a period of major change in Iansek’s life, including relocating across the world and growing his family.

“It was not an easy thing to do,” he says. “It has been an insane, wonderful, chaotic, intense and joyful period of my life.”

Iansek produced and mixed Every Little Fire himself, recording in small spaces including a DIY bedroom studio and deliberately preserving some of the imperfections in the performances – breaths, tempo fluctuations and longer unvarnished takes among them.

Fans will get their first chance to hear the new material live when #1 Dads kicks off the Australian tour at Mapleton Pub on Thursday, 22nd October.
