Soundwave 2014 HQ confirmed last night, via AJ Maddah’s Twitter of course, that Californian nu-metal crew Korn and master of horror Rob Zombie will play co-headlining Sidewaves this year, with tour dates in Sydney and Melbourne.
Responding to one very excited and persistent Twitter follower’s demands for a show in Melbourne, AJ tweeted a simple “OK”, following it up with a confirmation soon after. A reply to another follower confirmed that both Melbourne and Sydney would be getting co-headline shows.
The two bands have just completed a very similar co-headlining US tour, aptly named Night of the Living Dreads, resulting on one hell of a pyrotechnics-filled metal event. Check out the video (below) of Head and Munky from Korn, joining Rob Zombie on stage for a rendition of Diamond Head’s Am I Evil?.
This will be the first time metal royalty Korn have played live in Australia since 2012. They’ll be bringing their new album The Paradigm Shift, in tow. Spook king Rob Zombie was a crowd favourite at Soundwave 2011 and looks set to reignite stages with tracks from his new record, Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor.
Tickets for these sure-to-be-massive shows go on sale Thursday, 23rd January at 9am. Stay tuned to Music Feeds, as more Sidewaves are expected to be announced today, including shows from funk-metal outfit Living Colour. The third Soundwave lineup announcement is also due to drop some time today.
UPDATE: Mushroomhead have been added to the bill! The Ohio band’s theatricality will be a fitting opener for the two giants of metal. Details below.
