Good news, HBO has shared the trailer for the upcoming reunion special for The West Wing. Yup the cast will reunite on Thursday, 15th October for a once-off special. And we now have the trailer.
The special will premiere on HBO Max with the original cast: Martin Sheen, Rob Lowe, Allison Janney, Bradley Whitford, Richard Schiff, Dulé Hill and Janel Moloney. As well as that? The show’s creator, Aaron Sorkin will be writing the special.
It’ll be an on-stage performance, recreating the Season 3 ep ‘Hartsfield’s Landing’. In the episode, a small town in New Hampshire hosts the first presidential primary vote. Josh Lyman (Whitford) obsesses over the result in the episode while the president, Jed Bartlet (Martin Sheen) plays chess.
The on-stage reunion special comes in support of Michelle Obama’s When We All Vote campaign. The campaign is trying to increase participation in the US vote.
The trailer is hugely exciting for The West Wing fans who’ve gone 15 years without a new ep of the show.
Sterling K. Brown is set to play Leo, stepping in for the late John Spencer. As well as that, we’ll be seeing appearances from Michelle Obama, Elisabeth Moss, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Samuel L. Jackson, and Bill Clinton.
