The national final for one of the world’s biggest short film festivals, Tropfest, has kicked off in Sydney.
The big event is taking place at The Domain, and is being beamed live via satellite links to outdoor live sites including Melbourne, Canberra, Perth, Wollongong, Hobart and Surfers Paradise. An estimated 150,000 people are expected to ‘watch’ the event at all of the live sites around Australia. It will be broadcast live on SBS ONE from 8.30pm.
The Red Carpet arrivals are happening right about now. Round The Corner, MEG MAC and Clubfeet all gave live performances earlier this afternoon, while Kate Miller-Heidke is expected on stage at 7.15.
Music Feeds will let you know all the winners on the night when they are announced. 16 films have been shortlisted for this year’s event – and all of them had to feature the Tropfest 2013 signature item, which was a balloon. The creators of the films (which you can see listed below) are battling it out for more than $100,000 in prize money.
