If you can pull yourself away from the many Game Of Thrones Season 3 previews currently filling up the Internet, then you may just have time to check out the full-length trailer for The Wolverine.
In the trailer, a scraggy-looking Logan (Hugh Jackman) sits at a bar, getting ready to cut some non-mutant suckers in half. A mysterious woman by the name of Yukio (Rila Fukushima) intervenes and the main plot points get underway.
This is the best plot summary we’ve had from the movie so far and it looks as though the narrative revolves around Wolverine being offered the chance to become mortal. Of course, when you’re battling an army of ninjas and Silver Samurai (Will Yun Lee), saying so long to supermutant healing powers probably isn’t a wise decision.
Needless to say, there’s plenty of action, with a battle scene on a bullet train a definite highlight. Famke Janssen is also reprising her role of Logan’s would-be lover, Jean Grey (now Phoenix).
The Wolverine is directed by James Mangold, who has previously worked with Jackman on the masterpiece that is Kate & Leopold. Jokes aside Mangold has directed some great films such as Walk The Line and other solid efforts like the remake of 3:10 To Yuma.
Can Mangold finally give the Marvel Comics character his just dues on the big screen? Australian audiences will know come 25th July.
